Vitality

V I T A L I T Y= power of enduring; capacity to live and develop; physical or mental vigor especially when highly developed

And that’s what you can get for free this month–tons of Vitality oils and products! That white Vitality label is a sign that it’s good for internal use. It’s the exact same oil as our regular one (lemon with a yellow label is just as thoroughly tested and vetted), just different labeling to appease big brother. Same oil–>different labels.

I have to admit I got excited looking at all the freebies I was going to get this month just for ordering more laundry soap, deodorant, toothpaste, face wash, PanAway, Vitamin D, and Alkalime! (That’s my order this month…I’ll probably add MagCal to that since I’m almost out of that, too!)

Have you ever participated in a 30 Day Endoflex Challenge? If not, I highly recommend you give it a try! From your hormones to your thyroid to your skin to your emotions and MUCH more, this little bottle of oil can quite literally change your life.

If you’re on my team and are in the Sage & Sunflowers Team Facebook Group (Formerly the Got-Oils Support Team), just do a search for Endoflex Challenge and start reading all of the amazing testimonials!

If you’re not a part of that group let me know and I’ll add you!

Y’all know probiotics are kind of a big deal right? Your gut is your second brain and affects much more than just what comes out the other end (sorry I’m a straight shooter here).

Mental health is strongly tied to gut health–so support your healthy lifestyle by moving your body, eating a balanced diet, and taking Life 9 to promote healthy digestion.

I’ll admit I had not tried these until my mom gave me a bottle of the Jade Lemon + Berry flavor and WOW–I was sold! We stick pretty much to water, sparkling water, and coffee and so having a flavor boost that makes you want to keep sipping your water is great! You can even add them in a post-workout smoothie for electrolytes–awesome!

This blend contains oils that support…well…overall longevity! If you have an Essential Oils Desk Reference I highly recommend pulling that out and looking up these oils…then go get an empty 00 Vegetable Capsule and put a few drops in and start doing that every day!

You may even like this in a cup of hot tea after a long day.

Oh Lemon–an old standby for so many resons! We keep a bottle of this under our Berkey water filter to add to our water pretty much every day. Often I’ll take a capsule of it as well just to support…ohhh lots!

This is also great mixed into your yogurt (with blueberries on top–my mother-in-law taught me that one!), shaken into salad dressing, on top of cauliflower rice or mixed into a chicken marinade.

Recipe call for lemon zest? Just use a drop of this instead!

Personalize your beverages with 1–2 drops of Citrus Fresh Vitality to every 2 ounces of your favorite fruit and vegetable juices and smoothies. This is another great one to take in capsules as well. And we diffuse the regular one regularly…same oil, different label, remember?

When road tripping, enhance your traveling experience prior to departure with a capsule of DiGize Vitality. This is my preferred way as I don’t love the smell, but my daughter keeps a bottle of this in her car door for winding mountain roads.

You can also make a soothing tea with antioxidant properties by adding honey and DiGize Vitality.

*Exclusive Bonus for Subscribe to Save (previously ER) orders at 190 tier*

Take mealtime up a notch with Orange Vitality in sweet or savory dishes for added flavor.

Hydrate like royalty by adding 1-2 drops to your drinking water.

Take a capsule before bed, use throughout the day, or following strenuous activity.

When my babies were teething I would rub this on their gums or put a drop on a wet frozen washcloth or their pacifier. This was the “binky” oil in our house and my youngest would hardly use a binky without a drop!

Got a bottle of regular label hanging around? Rub some on those sore muscles after a workout!

I’m super stoked to be getting these for free this month–how do you like to use these oils?

Roots

If you’ve followed along in our journey, you know that we moved to Southern Oregon in the summer of 2019. We’ve spent the past year and a half exploring this awesome state…and there is still so much left to see!

Limpy Creek Botanical Trail in Grants Pass and Fall Creek Falls near Glide, Oregon were both enchanting in March…both places felt like we were in Rivendell and an elf was going to appear at any moment! Something about sunlight hitting moss…I feel like Pacha in The Emperor’s New Groove saying, “These hills sing!”

Summer came with trips to the coast and Redwoods, learning how to paddleboard, camping trips, swimming in lakes and rivers and even Crater Lake, rafting down the Rogue, more time at the coast, more camping, and a whole lot more swimming. I’m not sure there was a set of two consecutive days my kids weren’t in the water! We played hard and if there was ever an idyllic childhood summer we got it!

With Covid closing our playgrounds and libraries, we focused on making our backyard an awesome place to be. We planted a garden, got a hammock and swing, set up a bird feeder, and built a teepee from driftwood collected in Applegate lake.

Pouring so much work into a rental backyard felt a little disheartening, though. Towards the end of the summer both Matt and I began to feel a pull towards finding our own home. Seeing as our rental was comfortable and we had a long wish list for our Home, we were OK taking our time looking for the right house. At the same time, my parents were home hunting as well so we looked at a LOT of houses over the course of a few months. Side note: my parents worked with JJ Kramer from April onward and he was awesome!

When the fires ravaged the Rogue Valley in September, we knew there was going to be a rush on houses having seen it happen in Chico after the Camp Fire in Paradise. Every day we looked at every new house listed but nothing felt right. Then Matt noticed a house that was hidden a bit—tucked away and interestingly enough had never popped up on any searches we made. It had been on the market for three months during a time when houses my parents were looking at were getting into bidding wars on the day that a house would list.

JJ got us into the house that evening and it was so perfect for us it seemed too good to be true. Four bedrooms, a roomy sunny homeschool room, a big kitchen as we all love to cook, windows to let in tons of light…we were smitten. On October 27th we closed on this dream house ❤️

It’s a home that can easily hold guests and ALL the family. I really believe you can make anything work, but moving to a location that’s literally double the space is like having so much more room to breathe. Both Matt and I work from home, and being a homeschool family—this is truly our home base. Each morning I look around and feel so immensely blessed—this is the first dwelling in my adult life that I can see being our home without an end date.

Matt and I did a massive IKEA haul for bookshelves and other basics, and I scrambled to get all the furniture assembled (49!) and things set up so we could enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas with family. As the weeks pass and we tweak things around, it just feels more and more like home.

So here I sit—in my favorite chair by the fireplace, listening to the sounds of Tatum singing in the bath, Bennett “reading” a story to herself on the landing, Kenna playing with dolls in her room, Roy panting on his bed nearby, and Matt watching board game reviews on the TV.

Comfy sounds of life. Sounds of home.

Parenting-thing

Rule #1

When you go on regular walks or hikes and have three kids but only two hands, you have to lay down some ground rules.

Ask my kids what’s Rule #1 of hiking and they will all chime together, “LISTEN TO YOUR MAMA!”

Ask what Rule #2 is and they’ll all say, “Always stay on the trail!”

Rules 3-8ish get a little jumbled after that…don’t yank up plants or throw rocks at your sisters or lick mushrooms and that sort of thing…

She was crying half a second before this pic 😂

I find the longer I’m a mama the more I realize just how rotten kids are…and how rotten I probably was as well. (**who me? Never!**) Bennett, our 3 year old, just LIVES to aggravate her sisters (and often her parents). Nothing, and I mean not ice cream or slides or her crocodiles, brings her more joy than seeing her sisters get upset. We’re hoping it passes, but it’s just a gas to deal with until then!

So tonight while trying to get them ready for bed, after about the 9th time I’ve asked Bennett to put on the pajama shirt she’s been slinging around her head like a cowboy throwing a lasso, she delightfully looked at me and shouted, “RULE NUMBER ONE! DON’T AGGRAVATE YOUR MAMA!”

Oh man. That’s how the baby gets you–humor. “Don’t smile DO NOT SMILE” I think.

“RULE NUMBER TWO!” She continued in a drill sergeant voice…still circling the pajama around her head, “DON’T PLAY WITH THE TOYS THAN ARE NOT YOURS!”

Well, even if she’s not practicing the rules at least she knows them!

**We did finally get her to bed after warnings followed by consequences that were completely shocking (despite the warnings). The tears melted away during a hug and she sighed happily, content with my rising blood pressure, turned over, and went to sleep.**

Home

On April 6th we drove out of Oklahoma with all our worldly goods. For more than three months we traveled around California and the Pacific Northwest–Oregon, Idaho, Washington–to see where we might want to plant some roots and settle down.

Leaving Edmond, OK

Honestly? We could have kept traveling full time! We LOVED it! The kids (and even Roy) did GREAT! We had so many adventures, saw so many amazing sights, and really grew closer as a family. However, traveling full time in AirBnBs ain’t cheap, and honestly doing homeschool was more difficult without all of my resources around! Little kids want glue and pom poms and paint!

The first long term place we stayed was Jacksonville, Oregon. And we fell in love. The beauty, the charm of the town, ease of access to both outdoor adventures and amenities (like Costco!)–getting to play in the rivers and forests so easily had us hooked! We actually started looking for rentals after only two weeks there! But the rental market is crazy and when our AirBnB was up we kept journeying (and so glad we did!).

BTW, if you want a walk-through of this AirBnB watch this–I highly recommend to any looking to stay in the area!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcoQbDSlBj0

By the time a possible rental opened up we were in Spokane, and the rental possibility had only a couple of shady pics…but the price was right, it was in a safe area, and they allowed dogs so we took a gamble! I mean, isn’t that what we’d been doing for well over a year and God keeps working things out?!

We had to wait awhile for more pics because apparently the previous renters trashed the place…great. But there were pretty much NO other places that matched what we needed to we kept moving forward. Coeur d’Alene, Hoodsport, Portland, and finally we were headed back south to Chico going through the Rogue Valley area.

Sparks Lake, near Bend, OR
Coeur d’Alene, ID

We stopped at the rental and totally snooped it out…and finally were able to see it was cute and would work out great! So in July we signed the lease and scheduled a truck to move our stuff from storage in Chico to Central Point, Oregon.

Seeing as I had started packing 21 months before and packed up things in stages, unpacking has been quite the adventure! It was like Christmas getting all of our own things out again! And getting to have our own Christmas decorations and ornaments this year? Priceless! Traveling is awesome but it feels so good to have a home base again!

Right after we signed the lease–Oregon bound!

Since then we’ve been loving where we’ve lived! I keep thinking I needed to catch things up on here but if you want the overview, check out the Instagram account @kait.palmer ! #PalmerPackAdventures and #CultivatingAbundantLife

Part of my New Year’s Resolve is to keep things updated on here…and not the boring list of things done but the stories. I miss writing stories that make you laugh, think, or even challenge you. Something quick to read with Your Morning Cup of whatever you prefer 😉

‘Till next time!

We Did It!

As I write this I’m sitting in Chico, California, and all of our worldly possessions fit in a 10’x25′ storage unit down the street. We did it! We’re on the move and on the hunt for our next home!

Crazy as it sounds, we moved without a final destination in mind. Matt and I both can work remotely, we homeschool the kids, and we’re not sure where we want to plant some roots so we figured–why NOT? We moved to Oklahoma 7 years ago knowing we weren’t staying. Despite our house feeling like our little family haven, the state and area itself never felt like home. I’ve gotten that feeling of coming home to Orange County, Point Loma in San Diego, even places in foreign countries like Italy and Scotland and Romania. But interestingly enough never in Seattle or Oklahoma. Like a tree in a pot being moved around, looking for the place to be planted.

Our first stop is an adorable Airbnb in Jacksonville, Oregon. We’ll check out that area for a month, and if we love the area then we’ll look for a 6 month or year rental. If we feel that’s not quite “it,” we’ll continue to explore. Matt wants to spend time in Bend–which I think would be amazing but as far as my dream of a sustainable homestead, Bend’s 52-day growing season won’t cut it. We’ve heard a ton of outdoor people are moving to Boise, ID because of it’s proximity to outdoor activities. I’m not convinced, but you never know until you get there! And I’d really love to check out the Coeur d’Alene area. The evergreens and gorgeous lakes seem to just be calling to me!

The timeline for all of this is flexible, and we might spend a month back in Chico with family after our time in Oregon. We might do another Airbnb on the Oregon coast because…well it’s the coast and it’s just magical!

For now, the girls and I just wrapped up a week of traveling and meeting up with over 30 people (in 4 days! Crazy!). We truly loved it, and the girls were on a constant high meeting new friends and having new experiences!

We are just starting to get back into a routine of school and play and homecooked dinners. We have our Roy Boy with us, of course, and though Matt is traveling this week we’re looking forward to having our own little family altogether in one place for a bit of time.

Yes, I whipped out my yoga mat at a rest stop in Arizona because those hips needed some stretching! Those pants, however, were not stretchy, lol!

I’ve been packing to move since I put away fall and Christmas decorations in 2017, we got our storage unit in Oklahoma nearly a year ago, and I’m so glad to have that part behind me! I’m ready to not hear the sound of packing tape for awhile!

When we talk to people about our crazy wandering plans, I find a lot of people sigh and say they wish they could do that. No, it wasn’t easy getting to this point. It took a LOT of work. A LOT of planning. Hard goodbyes (for now). And it still will take a lot of planning and budgeting to make this work. But it IS possible. Whatever “one day” dream you have is possible if you make it work. I also talked to a lot of people in Oklahoma who, upon hearing we wanted to originally move to Colorado, responded with, “Yeah, we wanted to do that to…and 5/10/20 years later and we’re still here!” I didn’t want that to be us.

We’re not in our final destination yet. Yes there will be a lot of expectations not met. There will be a lot of expectations exceeded. It’s going to be like that WHEREVER you are in life. But if your heart is truly desiring something different from where you are in life, stop dreaming. Dreams are fun and great and expand your brain and imagination. But without planning and grit and perseverance and ACTION they stay in your head and heart. So dream, and then start planning your adventure!
